Marketing
This is a fairly involved topic and I’m not going to dwell too deep into it but I will tell you what you should be looking at.
Find your target audience, any dwelling will do but some do better than others for instance senior communities. Seniors are really good at taking care of things before they go bad and they have a lot of fear which makes them the ideal candidate for this type of a service. Find print advertising that directly targets that group, these people like to read print they are not computer savvy and don’t look for contractors on Google.
Maybe there are wealthy communities near by. You can charge more if the area is wealthy.
Try any HOA type of community, they might have their own newspaper. Advertise there.
Different forms of marketing:
- Website is a must have, today you can put together a website yourself pretty fast using Free sites like Weebly.com
- Magnetic business cards are a must have, your business cards need to have all your personal business info on them ie. name of business and phone number plus whatever you want them to know, but they must have todays date and the future return date on the card so the client can always know who came, and when you need to be called back, and don’t forget you can always call them to remind them it’s that time again.
- Work order with your business information on it.
- Shirts and hats with company information on them, projects professionalism and is free advertising.
- Print advertising, newspapers, marketing papers, some communities have their own monthly or annual magazine and website.
- Ask your clients to talk about their experience with you on Facebook, Nextdoor.com and maybe they have a community billboard/contractor list they can add you to.
- Facebook join lots of targeted groups like moms groups and home services groups, there is no limit here.
- Nextdoor.com This is my favorite website. The client needs to write something about you. So ask them, you will get lots of work from this one and the info stays on the site for future clients looking for a dryer vent cleaner.
- Google/Yahoo/Bingl. You need to learn about all these free advertising platforms.
- Flyer- This is a good one. When I come to a house I hand them a Flyer with all the different services I offer (see Up Sells).
- Friends and family. Start from within. Tell all your friends and family to spread the word.
- Condo communities, if you determined that your able to clean vents in a particular condo community then approach their office management to see if you can do the entire community.
- Keep a client list so you can market directly to them by using e-mail or text blasts. For example: During a slow time of the year I might send out a Vent Cleaning Deal to my clients to entice them to call me.
- You can also combine services for a better deal.
- Example 1: Get your Dryer Vent Cleaned and your Gutters cleaning will be 30% OFF.
- Example 2: Dryer Vent Cleaning 2 or more homes get $10 Off
- Make your own deals
There are always more websites where you can put your information like yellow pages and so on, you can also do your own research in this area as it is constantly changing and growing.
